This volume contains the proceedings of the 5th International Symposium and Pakistan-US Binational Workshop, which is held biannually at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, Karachi, Pakistan. Natural product chemistry is an important and dynamic field of chemistry since it deals with the chemical processes associated with living organisms. The investigation of the chemistry of terrestrial and marine organisms has led to a host of novel bioactive compounds, many of which now find use in medicine. Such materials offer challenges to synthetic organic chemists. This volume contains articles pertaining both to structural studies on novel natural products as well as on synthetic strategies developed to such substances.
