Description
This book covers novel research results for process and techniques of materials characterization for a wide range of materials. The authors provide a comprehensive overview of the aspects of structural and chemical characterization of these materials. The articles contained in this book covers state of the art and experimental techniques commonly used in modern materials characterization. The book includes theoretical models and numerous illustrations of structural and chemical characterization properties. Dr. Ramiro Prez Campos obtained his Ph. D. in Physics at the University of Alberta, Canada in 1983. He also carried out postdoctoral work at the KFA in Jlich, Germany. He was awarded an Alexander Von Humboldt postdoctoral scholarship. He is the author of more than 170 scientific papers, all of them related with the applications of the transmission electron microscope in materials science. He is the actual Director of Centro de Fsica Aplicada y Tecnologa Avanzada of the Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mxico. Dr. Antonio Contreras Cuevas is a pipeline materials research specialist for Mexican Petroleum Institute since 2003. He obtained a master degree in 1997 and PhD in 2002 in Metallurgy and Materials Science from Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mxico (UNAM). He is a member of NACE and Mexican Materials Society, and he belongs to National Research System. The main research areas include stress corrosion cracking (SCC), root cause analysis (RCA), materials characterization and pipeline integrity. He is author from more than 50 scientific papers related with materials characterization by different techniques. Actually, he is researcher of Mexican Petroleum Institute. Dr. Rodrigo A. Esparza Muoz obtained his Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Materials Science at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicols de Hidalgo (UMSNH), Mxico in 2007. He carried out two postdoctoral stays, one of them in the Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mexico (UNAM) and the other one, in the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He is the author of more than 50 scientific papers, most of them related with the characterization of nanomaterials using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy. Actually, he is researcher of Centro de Fsica Aplicada y Tecnologa Avanzada from Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mxico.
